National Youth HIV/AIDS Awareness Day - April 10th

Next week is the ninth annual observance of National Youth HIV & AIDS Awareness Day (NYHAAD). On April 10th, we pause to recognize the impact of HIV on youth. National Youth HIV & AIDS Awareness Day is a chance to leverage digital communication tools and social media to reach out to youth with prevention, testing, and care messages.

Below are resources you can use to develop social media messages for the 2021 observance.

From Advocates for Youth

Advocates for Youth is the HIV community lead for planning and coordinating the annual NYHAAD observance. Their social media kitExit Disclaimer, coming soon, offers graphics and more.

To follow the conversation use #NYHAAD.

From HIV.gov

The NYHAAD page in our Events section includes resources from the federal agencies that communicate about HIV. We’ve also posted the NYHAAD logo, fact sheets, tips on social media use, and more.

Our HIV Basics section is loaded with images, fast facts, and clear information about HIV prevention, care, and treatment drawn from our federal partner agencies. Content and images are free to use.

HIV.gov is also your source for information about the Ending the HIV Epidemic initiative. This national effort aims to end the HIV epidemic in the United States by leveraging the powerful data and tools now available to reduce new HIV infections by 75 percent in five years and by 90 percent by 2030.

From CDC

CDC’s Division of Adolescent and School Health (DASH) works year-round to communicate the importance of educating youth about HIV and other health issues. DASH has posted its NYHAAD toolkit for 2021; the resources include a poster, social media images, and infographics.

We close with thanks for whatever you do today, on April 10th, and beyond to communicate how HIV has affected young people and to contribute to the national response to HIV among youth.
