To support National Youth HIV & AIDS Awareness Day messages (NYHAAD), HIV.gov offers a variety of shareable information. We hope our posts about how youth are using social media, about how youth think about, seek and use healthcare services, and how youth have been affected by the epidemic will assist you with your work.

Perhaps as much as any national HIV observance, National Youth HIV & AIDS Awareness Day is a chance to leverage digital communication tools and social media to reach out to youth with prevention, testing, and care messages.

NYHAAD is marked annually on April 10th. Here are some toolkits and resources ready for your use:

We are continually updating our NYHAAD page in the Events section to include resources from the federal agencies that communicate about HIV. We curate resources that will help our readers/communicators to focus on reaching youth. You’ll find the NYHAAD logo, fact sheets, the “correct” hashtag to use (#NYHAAD), tips on social media use, and more.

Run to DASH

The CDC’s Division of Adolescent and School Health (DASH) works year-round to protect youth in our nation. DASH offers its NYHAAD toolkit for 2019. The kit contains a poster, social media images, a web button and infographics.

Resources from the Community

As the lead organization in the HIV community for each year’s NYHAAD observance, Advocates for Youth develops messages and communication resources for anyone to use. The NYHAAD toolkitExit Disclaimer is posted on their site each year and often contains graphics, infographics, ideas for events, and sample social media content.
