The Interim Guidance for COVID-19 and Persons with HIV is now available on the AIDSinfo website. The guidance, which was developed collectively by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Antiretroviral and Opportunistic Infections Guidelines Panels, which are working groups of the Office of AIDS Research Advisory Council, is intended for health care providers and persons living with HIV in the United States. The guidance includes the following information:

  • General information that is pertinent to all persons with HIV, including the most current, albeit limited, information on HIV and COVID-19
  • Specific guidance for pregnant individuals with HIV and children with HIV
  • Actions to take when a person with HIV is exposed to COVID-19, develops symptoms of the illness, or is confirmed to have COVID-19, including cases where hospitalization is required
  • Additional guidance for HIV clinicians to enhance care engagement and continuity of antiretroviral therapy

The guidance also includes links to information on COVID-19 from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other organizations.
