Continuing our coverage of the 22nd International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2018) we had another informative conversation, this time with Ambassador Deborah Birx, MD. She is the U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator and U.S. Special Representative for Global Health Diplomacy and in that role she leads the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).

During our live interview on Facebook from the PEPFAR exhibit at the conference, Ambassador Birx shared some reflections on her work on the early days of the epidemic and how PEPFAR, over its 15 year history, has been transformative. She also highlighted a number of PEPFAR announcements made here and ongoing initiatives, including PHIA (Population-based HIV Impact Assessment) results stating that some countries are making great strides while others lag behind; the DREAMS Initiative for adolescent girls and young women; and the brand-new MenStar Coalition to strengthen efforts to engage young men and boys.
