Our friends at the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) have some helpful hints on that subject. DOT reminds drivers that Thanksgiving weekend is one of the most heavily traveled holidays, and stresses the importance of wearing your seatbelt and ensuring that all of your passengers are wearing their seatbelts. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), nearly half of those killed in auto accidents in 2013 were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. So buckle up and drive safely!

Driving safely also means observing the speed limit, signaling when changing lanes, and, we would add, never using handheld devices while driving.

Commit to driving safely and to putting away your devices when driving because one text or call could wreck it all.
