Today we highlight a Twitter chat that will focus on an area of concern in the HIV

hivheartchat

community: cardiovascular health. That chat will take place at 1:00 p.m. (ET) on Wednesday, February 17, 2016.

Prior studies have shown that HIV-infected individuals are at higher risk of developing cardiovascular disease, and our knowledge of heart health and HIV is evolving. In 2015, NIH started a large clinical trial on heart health: The REPRIEVE (Randomized Trial to Prevent Vascular Events in HIV) study. This research is testing whether statin administration can reduce the risk for major adverse cardiovascular events, such as heart attacks, strokes, and heart disease among people with HIV infection.

To celebrate American Heart Month, the REPRIEVE Trial will host the Twitter chat to talk about heart disease among people living with HIV. We encourage our readers to join the chat. Below are details and a graphic to share.
