December 1 will mark the 28th annual observance of World AIDS Day. This year’s Federal theme is "The Time to Act Is Now".

Along with community stakeholders across the nation, Federal employees across the U.S. Government will pause to mark this observance.

Over the last few weeks, our Federal colleagues who work year-round to respond to the HIV epidemic have been developing internal activities to raise HIV awareness among their colleagues who work on other health issues. For example, in honor of the day, the Office of HIV/AIDS and Infectious Disease Policy (OHAIDP) and HIV.gov will sponsor education activities for Federal employees at the Hubert H. Humphrey Building, Washington, D.C., where the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is headquartered.

HIV.gov will also encourage government staff to use the HIV Testing Sites & Care Services Locator to find local HIV testing opportunities. Although we have offered HIV testing in the building for many years, this year we will encourage our Humphrey Building colleagues to take advantage of local targeted testing options rather than holding sessions at HHS.

In addition, HIV.gov will promote the opportunity for Federal staff to watch the livestream of the White House event to be held on World AIDS Day.Federal staff are one part of our national response to HIV, and we thank our Federal colleagues for their efforts on World AIDS Day and beyond.
