The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking nominations for 12 members to serve on the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS (PACHA). The PACHA is a federal advisory committee that advises the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services on HIV/AIDS programs, policies, and research to support prevention, treatment, and efforts towards a cure. The PACHA plays an important role by identifying gaps and emerging issues and highlighting effective practices, innovative solutions, and research advancements to improve outcomes and save lives.

HHS has published a Federal Register notice inviting qualified candidates to apply to fill twelve vacancies on the PACHA.

The PACHA charter stipulates that the council may include up to 35 members, including one or more members selected to serve as the chair or co-chairs, who are appointed by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Members of PACHA should bring diverse expertise and perspectives on key HIV/AIDS issues. Members are selected from community and national leaders with expertise in areas such as HIV and AIDS, public health, global health, primary care, faith, philanthropy, business, marketing, and other sectors. Membership also includes people living with HIV. Historically, members have included physicians, nurses, researchers, business owners, community-based providers, faith leaders, public health professionals, and advocates.
