The webinar will focus on an integrated, holistic approach to delivering HIV and mental health services to low-income people living with HIV. It will be jointly presented by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Office of HIV/AIDS Housing (OHH) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

The National HIV/AIDS Strategy (NHAS) highlights the importance of mental health services as a core need in ending the HIV epidemic in the United States. The Biden-Harris administration’s whole-of-government strategy to transform mental health services calls for strengthening system capacity and transformation of our health and social services infrastructure to address mental health holistically and equitably.

The webinar will feature Harbor Care, a New Hampshire organization funded through both HOPWA and SAMHSA grants. Harbor Care will discuss how they use both funding sources to coordinate housing and mental health services for their clients with HIV. Speakers from the federal government will include:

  • Harold Phillips, Director of the White House Office of National AIDS Policy
  • Jemine Bryon, Acting General Deputy Assistant Secretary for Community Planning and Development at HUD
  • Dr. Neeraj Gandotra, Chief Medical Officer for SAMHSA
