The Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) HIV/AIDS Bureau released today its inaugural publication of national Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP) client-level data collected through the Ryan White Services Report (RSR). This dataset is the HIV/AIDS Bureau’s primary source of annual, de-identified data about the people who received services from the nearly 2,000 funding recipients and subrecipients.

This first annual RSR report highlights the state of RWHAP from 2010 through 2014. The report characterizes the demographic composition of clients served and sociodemographic factors among clients. It also illustrates the results of focused analyses to measure progress toward achieving retention in HIV medical care and viral suppression, two key objectives of the National HIV/AIDS Strategy for the United States: Updated for 2020 (NHAS). Through the use of nearly 30 tables, the data reflect the overall RWHAP client population, as well as key priority populations identified by the NHAS.

It is important to note that the report does not include information about the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) since all ADAP-related information is collected through a separate data system. Although data presented in this report excludes ADAP client data, this does not imply the clients did not receive ADAP services.

The HIV/AIDS Bureau is committed to making our data available and useable for our recipients, subrecipients, partners, and stakeholders. This report is a step toward achieving that goal. In the coming months, the HIV/AIDS Bureau plans to release complementary slide decks with visualizations of the key data highlights, as well as data fact sheets. Supplemental data reports and products are also being planned using RSR data and other data collected by the HIV/AIDS Bureau. These include data from ADAP, the Dental Program, and AIDS Education and Training Centers (AETCs).
