The federal government remains committed to implementing the Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) initiative to reduce the number of new HIV transmissions in the U.S. by at least 90% by 2030—even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

To help measure our collective progress in reaching this goal, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will soon launch a new online resource/tool, America’s HIV Epidemic Analysis Dashboard (AHEAD), which will be housed on HIV.gov .

The EHE initiative is a data-driven effort, and the AHEAD dashboard will make HIV data more widely available. It will graphically visualize data for each of the 57 EHE Phase I jurisdictions and track national and jurisdiction progress on six indicators, including:

• HIV incidence
• Knowledge of HIV status
• HIV diagnoses
• Linkage to HIV medical care
• Viral suppression
• PrEP coverage

AHEAD is designed to empower national, state, and local stakeholders to:

• Monitor local, state, and national progress toward indicator goals.
• Inform local, state, and national decision-making.
• Access tools to understand the HIV epidemic through systematic comparisons and analyses.
• Focus additional expertise, technology, and resources required to tailor and implement successful, data-based interventions.

AHEAD will also provide a variety of resources to EHE stakeholders, including the latest success stories, new Notice of Funding Opportunity announcements, and HIV testing, care, and PrEP service locators.

Over the next year, HHS will gather input from key stakeholders and partners in order to identify and add other features and information about the EHE initiative to the site. As AHEAD evolves, the site will become more interactive, integrate more data, offer more comparative and analytical functions, and share more success stories from EHE jurisdictions.
