To recognize National HIV/AIDS and Aging Awareness Day (NHAAD) on September 18, HIV.gov is sharing facts and digital resources to highlight opportunities to reach out to older adults.Did you know? In just the past few years, we have seen the percentage of people living with HIV who are over the age of 65 increased 91% -- from 32,000 people in 2007 to 61,200 people in 2012 .

• Meet Paul - one of the 5 men from HIV.gov’s Positive Spin series, which features true stories of people living with HIV and successfully navigating the HIV care continuum. Paul was diagnosed with HIV in 1987, and his story of living with HIV proves “there’s hope for the elders.”

• Several of CDC’s Act Against AIDS campaigns highlight people over 50. In the Let’s Stop HIV Together campaign, Scott shares his story . In the HIV Treatment Works campaign, ReggieExit Disclaimer offers his experience and perspective.

• The Graying of AIDSExit Disclaimer project shares images and videos that “combine portraits and oral histories of both long-term survivors and older adults who contracted HIV later in life.”
